I just finished a morning stroll through some trails off of the park n ride and there is a major brands demo trailer parked there now with a row of shiny new mountain bikes waiting to be test ridden.:mad: Anyone know if these guys have any latitude to make a call with such conditions as currently exist in those trails? I know of demos that have been cancelled in the past b/c of wet&muddy conditions.

Maybe anyone want to call their dealer and ask them to ask their brand not to demo in the mud for the sake of the trails? (not to mention their savings on equip.)

I'll call. Which brand? Which dealer?

I guess it's no secret if he's parked right there, it's a specialized demo rig.
I sent a note to specialized's customer service email, who knows if it will help. I think it's a shop staff only demo, since it's a weekday, but then somebody really ought to know better.

Gee. It poured rain last night. Maybe they'll be sticking to the roads and paved path. We really do need to round up the posse & educate some fools.

No torches.....tools. Bring a set of trail tools out there and ask them to help repair the damage they did.

There was no mtn bike demo out there, only road. The Specialized guy told me last week they were planning on a demo at Patapsco and said that they would probably not do it due to weather. And they didn't.

Settle down everyone. No bikes on trails today. They showed up just in case anybody DID show up to ride today but only put people out on road bikes.

I'll stand up for Blaze and Wiley. I talked to them and no worries. Blaze has done trailwork with us out there and he's not an irresponsible guy at all. Trust me, I'd run his a$$ up and down if he was dumb enough to be out there today, and he wasn't.

Posner already complained and got a response from Spec'd so I'm not sure why that's not coming up.

Stand down please.

I say we still pour Prolink on them and light them on fire. If they don't burn then they are witches. If they do burn then we let them go.

Thanks for the clarification. Good to hear those Specialized cats are cool, responsible citizens...except for the engineer poaching. ;)

The posse still might be useful for the 4-wheelers. :D

maybe his puter has the funk and doesn't realize all this has been said?

can we confiscate the atv's and sell them for our tool cache?

Cracks me up when Mike tells people to simmer down...

Yup, I did write a note to Specialized thru their website, got a response within hours. They did say they had made the call to do only road bikes.

I guess shame on me for sitting on that for 48 hours and not posting right away.

I thought I had subscribed to the thread, and would catch any/all posts on the topic, but I guess I bungled that. I didn't see any activity in my inbox, so I figured it wasn't a very hot post, and no need to hurry back to post a follow up. I'll be more carfeul about full disclosure in the future.

Yay to Specialized for not needing my do-gooder butt to tell them the right call. I didn't really doubt them, but with all the freds obviously riding wet trails there lately, I was easily fired up.

Sorry if I riled anyone up.

Good on ya for reporting. I'm not bitter. They wanted to be sure that people knew it was legit.
