Has anyone tried these?

http://groovycycleworks.com/extras.aspx

They look to have a slightly less agressive angle than Mary bars and are a hair lighter.

I'm looking for something with a bit more sweep, such as Mary bars to possibly alleviate some hand pain I'm experiencing.

Also, has anyone tried Origin8's Space Bar? It appears to be a less finely finished copy of the Mary Bar, but for half the price.

Nice, that might be something I'd consider in the future, as the mary's are a bit too much for me the last time I fooled around with them a bit. Haven't seen the Space Bar alas.

Yeah, that's where I learned of the Luv Handles.

They look like they would be great, but I'm hesitant to spend $85 on something I've never seen before.

Welcome to the world of high end, where local samples are rare ;)

I'm probably getting one.

If it weren't a fit related part, I wouldn't mind, but this is something that I'll either like or toss in the parts bin in short order. That worries me.

Meh. I'm going to tinker with some of the cockpit adjustments and see if I can alleviate my pain. If not, I may bite the bullet and give the Luv Handles a try.

Take a look at the Flowing bar...bikesonsnow.com I think. I don't think they have their second batch yet, but I'll be trying them out when they do.

I sent the BOS guys an email last Fall about them, got a reply that they would let me know when the next batch was in, and haven't heard from them since. I sent another email last night asking for a status update.

I'm on the BOS list as well. Starting to doubt those will ever happen.

I just ordered some Luv bars yesterday, some sweet show leftovers in silver and purple polkadots. Ricky will be jealous.:p

eBay or the classifieds if you don't like them. I'm sure you could get at least 50% of your money back if they are lightly used.

True, I just hate buying stuff with that as a contingency. It seems every time I do, I'm never able to sell the item. But, there does seem to be interest in the bars, so if I don't like them, they'll probably move quickly.

I got this from Brooke at BOS today:

Hey Chris, I'm still working on finding a company able to make the
next batch of bars. Sorry it's taken me so long, but I'm hoping to
have them ready for spring. I'll keep you updated on the progress.
I'm hoping to have a flat and rise Ti version quite soon. I'll let
you know pricing and more detailed timing as soon as it's determined.
The aluminum version will be coming from Taiwan, and will hopefully be
done before spring.

Thanks,

Brooke

Just had them installed and ran Wakefield/Accotink on them. Initial impression is that they allow me to ride in a more relaxed position and they didn't seem flexy. I am only 155 though.

Sweet!

I know that bike! (second Pic) http://groovycycleworks.com/extras.aspx

Groovy Cycle Works is Part of Bikes Trikes and Boards in Wooster Ohio where my wife's parents live. The bike belongs to the owner of the shop. That's his favorite ride out of lots of bikes he owns.

They just put in a painting booth and Groovy is doing a lot with custom 650b bikes this year. Very nice stuff.

If you are ever up there you have to have them take you out to Vultures Knob in Wooster. The trails started up in the early 90's and had north shore elements before they were known as north shore. Even a log ride over a gold fish pond. They kept a tally of riders who fell in each race. Vultures Knob also played a role in the concept and beginnings of Ray's Indoor MTB park.

to possibly alleviate some hand pain I'm experiencing. Have you thought about using Ergon grips (http://www.ergon-bike.com/en/grips/index.html)?

Have you thought about using Ergon grips (http://www.ergon-bike.com/en/grips/index.html)?

I've tried something similar and didn't like them. Doesn't matter though, I determined my problem. When I built this bike, I must have rotated my bars towards me a bit. Because of the bar's sweep, that moved the contact point of the grip area from the middle of the grip to the outer end. By moving the bar forward a bit, I changed the contact point, ending my pain.

Another option on big sweep bars is the FU bar from Misfit Psycles. I have been running them for a year and love them. They are really comfortable for Endurance races.

Finally got the bars mounted and spent some time with them.

They do not have a radical sweep to them, maybe 10deg and the rise is close to an inch.
The biggest thing I noticed is that these things are STIFF!
I have been running a Ti bar with similar sweep and before that a carbon riser.
This is not the bar for a rigid SS. I like the positioning but this is going on a bike that has some travel up front.

Do you still like the bars. I was thinking of adding a set to my collection.

I have looked at these a few times, but 10deg isn't really that much sweep. Surly and Salsa both make a traditional bar with more sweep than that. The Groovy website says 21.5deg sweep?

I have a pair on order for the December build. The final selling point for me was the extended width option (I'm 6'4" & broad shoulders).

They are sitting on the shelf at the moment.
I am waiting for a set of the Ti version. The steel ones are going on another build.

I'm picking up a used set for my rigid 29er. I'm currently using Easton Monkeylite riser bars. I'll post back after a few test rides.
