Has anybody been there recently? Any ideas how it would be tomorrow morning, when the temps are around freezing?

Anyone been there recently? I'm planning on heading over there on Sunday.

Black Hill is in poor condition right now...probably the worst I've seen.

I'd probably stay off it until night time temps start staying above freezing to avoid the freeze/thaw cycles that is causing the ground to be so soft.

I just rode all of Hardrock out and back and all of Cabin Branch out and back (so basically everything twice) and both were in great shape. I was fully prepared to not ride anything if the conditions were poor. However, virtually nothing was soft, and the only damage I observed were some hoof gouges. Thanks to all the wind I guess. I was expecting HR to be more or less ok, and only checked CB on a wim, but was very surprised at the good shape both were in. This will all be for naught if it rains again, though. It was nice to enjoy it during this likely very narrow window.

Hi All,

Posting this here as I don't see it mentioned much elsewhere and I don't have posting privileges in the trailwork folder.

If you can make it out and want to ride after, come out to Black Hill for some MORE-sponsored end-of-season (nearly) trailwork. It'll be led by Chris Wikman and Park staff, and we'll be finishing some machine-cut drain dips in an eroded section of trail, and hopefully putting a short, steep section of fall line trail onto a new, more rolling alignment. Should be good times.

If you're interested, please go here (https://ec.volunteernow.com/recruiter/index.php?class=OppSearchResults&recruiterID=1060&orgid=35357&popServ=758&type=all) and follow the links that say "apply" under tomorrow's listing to sign up. If you have any problems, just contact Chris at 240-731-7474, or me at ben.sugar@montgomeryparks.org. Thanks!
