I am in desperate need of a reputable spa to get something for the little woman for tomorrow. Cost is the biggest factor for me. :o

Not the apointment tomorrow, just the promise of the spa day.

Thanks! (I live in Waldorf, but as long as it is within 60 or so miles of the house it is cool.)

Here are two spas you might want to consider:

Robert Andrew is located in Gambrills. I've never been there but have several friends who love this place. It's a bit on the pricy side.

DeFoor's Eden is located in historic Ellicott City. I've been there and it's fantastic, I highly recommend it. It's more reasonably priced but a bit futher from Waldorf.

Good luck!

Yeah, Robert Andrew is great. Right next door to a BIKE SHOP! She'll see it coming a mile away!

I can pick up a gift card for you if you wanna meet me in Chevy Chase tomorrow night...

I hear there's a nice one in the Walloon region of the province of Liege (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spa,_Belgium). (Sorry about that)

My wife has never been disappointed with Elizabeth Arden (http://www.reddoorspas.com/). It is a little pricey, but they've been great. We go together every now and then.

You also might think about a weekend in Berkeley Springs, WV (http://www.berkeleysprings.com/). Again, it is something you two can do together. On the reasonable side, a day in the baths in the National Park is a good choice. Certainly you can spend more and get something less historical, but more posch.

I hope that gives you a few ideas.

Ohh... Berkeley Springs is a wonderful get away. If you go that route, I'd recommend the Highlawn Inn B&B, it's a lovely place and the breakfasts were delicious! http://www.highlawninn.com/ There are several spas there to choose from and you could get in a bike ride while your wife is being pampered.

Berkley Springs (sp?) is great - I'll second it. Years ago a girlfriend and I went up there for a weekend and rented a really great (albeit somewhat primitive - it had running water, power, tv, wood stove, etc) A-frame cabin and had a wonderful time doing a whole lot of nothing. Neither of us liked to deal with the general public any more than necessary (I still don't!), so it worked out wonderfully. Watching the fire, looking at the stars, enjoying the deafening quiet, and staying in proved to be far better than I think any spa. But, we were always into the simple pleasures. I know, some people just need mud baths and scented candles.... LOL :D

Thanks everybody! Sounds like a trip to Berkley Springs may be in order. Maybe not now, but definately in the near future!

I never thought about a B&B either. Much better deal than a $350 massage and facial. :o

Thanks Mrs. O., the Defoor's Eden is well priced as too. AWESOME! I am sure there are soem great places to eat a "nice' meal in historic Ellicot City as well? :o

Thanks again. Hopefully someone else can use these ideas too!

There's a wide selection of restaurants and shops in the historic district. I recently ate at The Rumor Mill, very good (although slow service and horrible beer selection). There's also a nice little wine bar Annabell's that also has a small but decent selection of beer and appetizers.

Don't know if you'd have time to squeeze in a ride, but it's not far from Patapsco.

I'll second Pete's recommendation of Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Spa. Being a worldwide chain has it's benefits, no matter where you are, you are not too far from one, and you are assured a certain high standard of quality and talent. Talking to the tech's who have worked other places, they say that working there is great because of the broader range and quantity of differet products that available to them to use on the customer.
