MORE Kid\'s Ride Seneca Creek State Park
Bob Caverly is leading what we hope to be an ongoing series of Kid\'s
Rides. The only caveat is that this ride should be about the kid\'s
having a great experience not just a MORE ride where we are going to
allow kids to come along. The ride will start at the tire playground
(right where you turn to go to the boat house). Go down the field to the
lake and turn right. Follow the lake trail to the Kingfisher Overlook
and the dam, then cross the road to the Long Draft Branch trail. Take
that loop around until it re-crosses the road on the south side of the
lake and then follow the white trail the rest of the way around the
lake. This is almost exactly 6 miles. His 7 year old son has done about
4 miles of this (on a 20\" kid\'s MTB) in the past and there are a
couple of opportunities for people to bail out if kids are not able to
handle it. For those who know Seneca Creek State Park but may not have
been there recently, there are several stretches of trail on the south
side of the lake which have now been re-routed to slightly higher ground
eliminating some of the very rooty sections that used to be right along
the edge of the water. This should actually make it even better for
kids/beginners. This is great single track trail, but with very little
elevation change and few significant obstacles. Bring out that budding
NORBA XC champ that keeps complaining you never take him/her riding with
you and find out how fun it can be to ride with your kids. For safety
reasons all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over
18; no more than 2 kids per parent/guardian. Properly fitting helmets
must be worn by all riders. Please RSVP to let me know how many to
expect.

Ft Dupont Moderate Ride
Ft. Dupont Moderate Ride Join MORE\'s urban adventurers for an
after-work ride through the Ft. Circle hiker/biker trail in Anacostia.
This historic oasis provides a close-in off-road alternative varying
from gravel trails to rolling hilly singletrack with a handful of
obstacles to keep things interesting.
Now that the days are getting shorter, we will leave promptly at 5:45
from Capitol Hill Bikes, 709 8th St., SE. Although this is not a night
ride, a light is helpful for the return ride through the city.
