I rode Wakefield early this morning in low 20-degree temps.

The trails were 90% free of snow and what remains is pretty thin and crunchy (and rideable). The ground is solidly frozen and should remain that way as long as the temps stay below freezing.

There are a few wet spots that this morning only had a thin skin of ice that bike tires would break through. I imagine by tomorrow they should be solidly frozen.

So, all in all, pretty much rideable, so long as you dress for the conditions.

But in a number of places (you know, the normally muddy places) the trail is frozen solid in a knot of grotesque ruts from all the bozos who have been riding in what was obviously deep muck. Please people....wait for a dry spell or a solid freezing spell (like today).

We just got back from riding Wakefield around lunch time. Anything in the woods is in good shape. Anything in the open has thawed and is muddy. Stay away from anything on the powerlines. Everything else was frozen solid and plenty of fun.

Enjoy.
