GW trails closed due to fire

This just in from the National Forest. The EF loop that we normally do should not be affected but be vigilent.

FYI: Due to wildland fire activity the following trails on the Lee Ranger
District's Massanutten Mountain are closed until further notice:

Tuscarora/Veach Gap Trail - This includes the Veach Gap Shelter
Shawl Gap Trail - (East and West)
Sherman Gap Trail - (E and W)
Tolliver Trail
Buzzard Rock Trail
Milford Gap Trail
Indian Grave Ridge Trail
Habron Gap Trail
Massanutten Trail on East side of Fort Valley
Edith Gap and Kennedy Peak Trail
Stephen's Trail

The Wildcard Fire is currently 56 acres. Cause is unknown. On Tuesday,
January 8, 2008 the plan is to "burnout" approx. 30 acres towards the
Massanutten Trail (east side of mountain). The above trails are closed
for hiker and firefighter safety. Please call the Lee Ranger District

Thanks for posting this Scud. Any idea how much damage was done and if the fire is out now? Have they closed off the effected areas?
