MORE Ride Calendar for the period April 24th until May 4th


Upcoming event later in May 2002
Join MORE for the 6th Annual Memorial Day Camping and Biking Trip. This year we will go to Deep Creek Lake State Park and explore Western Maryland and West Virginia Mountain Biking from Friday May 24th until Monday May 27th. There are two ways to register for this trip. You can call 1-888-423-2267 and ask for camping reservations at Deep Creek Lake or you can go to: http://reservations.dnr.state.md.us/index.cfm and do your reservation there. We currently have sites in both the Garrett and Beckman Loops if you want to be close to the party. The park will sell out for Memorial Day so do not delay. This will be a three day trip. April 24th Wednesday
Ft. Dupont Trail Ride
Terrain: Intermediate
Pace: Moderate
Start at 5:45pm.
Join MORE's urban adventurers for an after-work ride through Ft. Dupont National Park in Anacostia. This historic oasis provides a close-in off-road alternative varying from wide gravel trails to rolling hilly singletrack with a handful of obstacles to keep things interesting. This ride started last week and initial reports are " Why have we not done this before"
Meet at: 5:45 at Capitol Hill Bikes, 709 8th St., SE. We will also stop to pick up riders along the way at the Ft. Dupont activity center just off Randle Circle.

Wakefield/Accotink Parks Niteride
Wakefield/Accotink Parks Niteride Start at 6:45pm. Join the MORE gang on the weekly jaunt through Wakefield and Accotink Parks. Ride starts at 6:45 and will break into two groups depending on who shows up. Many of the riders retire to Kilroy's Sport's bar at the conclusion of the ride for the Best Chicken Wings in DC and some frosty cold beverages.
Terrain: intermediate
Pace: casual/moderate

4/26 Friday
Fountainhead Regional Park Night Ride
Join Stu Moulton and the MORE gang at Fountainhead and enjoy an opportunity to ride the MTB trail and some of the trails that are closed to MTB's during the daylight hours. Through special arrangements with the Park Authority, we have permission to ride the Yellow and White Trails after dark. Ride starts at 7:00 and will, typically, break into two groups to accommodate both a moderate/fast paced group and a more casual paced group. This ride is normally on the 3rd Friday but was rescheduled to this date because of wet trails last week.

Fredrick Watershed
Terrain: Advanced
Pace: casual
Join Scott Scudamore for an advanced terrain casual pace ride through the Watershed in Frederick. Meet at 10:30 @ Hamburg Rd. This will be at least a 3hr ride bring plenty of food and water. Call or email to confirm. This is a time change and ride leader change from a previous posting.

Cabin John Park Beginner Trail Ride
Intro to Trail Cycling. Easy/intermediate singletrack along Cabin John Creek. Enjoy trails mountain bikers and hikers have been jointly improving over past year. Learn to ford a stream, maybe hop a small log. For those who own off-road bikes but never seem to get off the towpath this is the ride for you. Contact Dave for more information. Accotink Trail Workday
Starts at 9:30am

Join Tom Mathis as he does his semi-annual sprucing up of one of the most utilized singletrack areas in Northern Virginia. Please bring work boots, work gloves, and your favorite tool (especially if it's a mattocks, mcloud, or lopper). As usual MORE will be supplying tools, Clif Bars, and one of the snazzy new Trail Crew shirts to a lucky winner.
