What: The Bike Lane/MORE Monday night ride at Wakefield
When: Monday nights at 6:30pm (on the trail by 6:45)
Where: Audrey Moore Rec Center parking lot by the recycling bins
Ride Leader: JoeP
This is a moderate to fast-paced night ride at Wakefield Park in Annandale, Virginia, adjacent to the intersection of Braddock Road and the Capitol Beltway. Riders should meet at 6:30 and be ready to ride at 6:45.
Pace: No-drop ride at a moderate to faster pace. Regroup when necessary, but otherwise not a lot of stopping. Unless the ride leader gets tired, then it's just painfully slow for everyone.
Location: The ride starts near the Wakefield Park recycling bins, located in the parking lot of the Audrey Moore Recreation Center. Please park near the large green recycle bins.
Terrain: Wakefield is generally considered easier to intermediate by most riders. There are a few small stream crossings and some log obstacles. The ride will typically consist of a mix of singletrack, fireroads, and other trail sections in the park.
All riders joining this ride will need to sign the standard MORE waiver form.
Riders need to have good quality bicycle lights. Bikes should be in good working order, and riders should have basic equipment such as a spare tube, water, and trail food.
Weather: To protect the trails, the ride will be canceled if weather conditions warrant. Information on closures will be posted here and/or in the forum. Volunteers have put a lot of 'sweat equity' into maximizing the trails in Wakefield. Let's not ruin them by riding when it's muddy, eh?If you plan on attending this event, please take a moment and use the link below to RSVP. It only takes a moment and it really helps our trail liasons and ride leaders out.
